Answers:

  1. What can Mattecheck & Associates do for me as an employer?
We can help you develop an appropriate program for your company - group health, dental, life, disability programs, pension plans and business insurance.
  2. There have been so many changes in insurance recently: HMOs, PPOs, HSAs, HRAs, 125 plans, new insurance regulations and COBRA. Is there a way I can keep up with it?
We are constantly monitoring the market place. When we see a new idea or product that might help our clients, we let them know about it. Changing trends are a fact of life in any industry. We can give you expert advice so you can make the correct decision.
  3. My employees are always asking me questions about our plan. It's time consuming to answer them, and I'm not certain if I am answering them correctly.
Instead of calling an insurance company, we have your employees call us if they have a question or problem with their insurance. That's why we request an employee meeting at the beginning of a new plan - to explain what is covered, what isn't covered and to introduce ourselves. We also explain your plan to all new employees. We want them to feel free to call us at any time.
  4. Usually our insurance claims are settled smoothly, but when there's a problem it's a headache to get it fixed.
When a claim problem arises, one phone call to us saves the employee and you time and aggravation. We resolve the problem and notify the insured of the results. No more endless phone calls and run around!
  5. It seems every year I'm in the same position of shopping the market to make sure I'm getting the best value for my money. How can Mattecheck & Associates help?
You'll never have to do that again! We automatically do the shopping for you and make recommendations. We do the leg work - you make the decisions.
  6. I'm tired of getting rate increases each year, but what can I do?
Did you know that rates are sometimes negotiable? We have often been successful in reducing or eliminating scheduled premium increases.
  7. I'd like to take advantage of your services, but I'm happy with my insurance company and don't want to change. Do I have to make a change?
You don't have to change insurers! We can start immediately when you give us authorization to be your service representative.
  8. It all sounds great, but what is this going to cost me?
You don't pay any more to have us service your account. The costs involved are typically your insurance premium. In certain cases, consultant fees can be negotiated.
  9. I have some Medicare-eligible employees on my group plan. Do they have to drop it and go onto Medicare or can they remain on our plan?
Medicare-eligible employees who are age 65 or under-65 disabled eligible can remain on the group plan as long as they are ACTIVE employees. If they choose to drop the group plan to enroll into a Medigap plan, they can do that.
  10. What happens when someone leaves employment as far as continuation on our group plan?
Groups with less than 20 employees are Oregon State-Continuation eligible for six months following their departure. They must have been covered on the group plan a minimum of three (3) months to be eligible. For groups over 20 employees, COBRA benefits are available for various lengths of time based on the qualifying event. For example, an employee leaving typically receives eighteen months, self-paid coverage. Other qualifying events could lead to longer eligibility periods.
  11. What about bitter departing employees? I'm not sure if I'm following the laws correctly and working through the anger is daunting.
We want your terminating employees to get in touch with us so we can explain their options correctly. We will help them complete any required paperwork.
