William R. Mattecheck, CLU – President

Bill has over 30 years experience specializing in design and implementation of employee benefit plans to best fit his client’s needs.  Prior to forming M&A in 1985, he spent 10 years with Northwestern Mutual Life as a career agent specializing in Business and Estate planning for executives and owners of closely held businesses.

He served as President of the Central Oregon Life Underwriters Association and as a member of the American Health Insurance Association, the Portland Life Underwriters Association, the Oregon Life Underwriters Association, and the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Bill is one of five founding board members of the Brian Henninger Foundation for Children’s Charities; Since 2000 the foundation raised over $500,000 for children in our community through donations to Sacred Heart Neo Natal unit in Eugene, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Special Olympics, just to name a few. 

Bill graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  In 1993 he completed his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation at The American College in Bryn Mawr.
He lives in Portland with his wife and daughter. He enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.

 

Patricia Steele, RHU – Vice President

Patricia has over 35 years experience in the insurance industry, 16 specifically in employee benefits & individual medical.  She began her early career with NW Insurance Company before taking a sabbatical to raise her family.  In January of 1988, Patricia joined Mattecheck & Associates, as a Customer Service Representative.  She earned her Life and Health license and later became an Employee Benefit Specialist and Vice President.

Patricia maintains Oregon Life and Health individual and group client business, while working off site.  She oversees and coordinates Group Benefit Plans as well as specializing in Medicare. 

She is a past Treasurer of the Portland Association of Health Underwriters and was voted Agent of the Year in 1998.  She earned her Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation in 2003.

Patricia has lived in Charles City, Virginia, with her husband, J.D. since 1999.  She enjoys writing, gardening, water skiing and watching the birds in her bird garden.

 

Mike Mattecheck CLU, CLTC – Vice President

Mike Mattecheck is a native of Oregon and has been in the insurance industry since 1974.   He started his insurance career with Northwestern Mutual Life.   In 1981, Mike joined Hagan Hamilton Insurance in McMinnville where he remained for 26 years, active in all areas of life and health insurance planning. 
In recent years he has focused on the Senior Market, specializing in Long Term Care Insurance, Life insurance and Annuities.  He holds the CLU (chartered life underwriter) and CLTC (certified in Long Term Care) designations.  Mike brings a wealth of insurance planning expertise to Mattecheck and Associates.   He splits his time between our Portland and McMinnville offices.

Mike is a graduate of McMinnville High School and the University of Portland.  He served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.

Mike resides in McMinnville with Sue, his bride of 39 years.  They have four children and five grandchildren.

 

Hiliary Hart-Mattecheck – Account Manager

With over 10 years experience in the insurance industry, Hiliary started her early career concentrating on life insurance with Mass Mutual, Northwestern Mutual Life and Mattecheck & Associates.  She managed the Workers Compensation Division at Great Northern Underwriters for a year before returning to Mattecheck & Associates in 2002, where she diversified her experience by becoming part of the Group Benefits department specializing in sales, customer service and coordination of Individual and Group benefit plans.

Hiliary lives in Portland with her husband and daughter.  She enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid NFL fan.

 

Rebecca Ramsey – Account Manager

As a licensed Life and Health agent, Rebecca has 11 years experience in the insurance industry and has worked in various capacities.  These include sales and marketing of individual life insurance policies, customer service, administration, and most recently specializing in coordination of Group benefit plans.  Rebecca assists in the sales and management of large groups and acts as the point of contact for renewal and service issues. 

Rebecca lives in Portland with her two children.  She enjoys creating photo scrapbooks, and spending time with her children. 

 

Laura Guillen – Account Manager

Laura joined Mattecheck & Associates in 2006, becoming a licensed health insurance producer shortly thereafter. She is an account manager currently responsible for renewals, service, and support for approximately 75 employer groups.

Prior to joining Mattecheck & Associates, Laura was part of a team who helped set up the first DHL call center in Prague, Czech Republic, responsible for providing IT support to all of Eastern Europe and the U.K.

She received her Bachelor's degree from Bennington College in Vermont, and a Master's degree in Human Nutrition with the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Laura lives in the West Linn area with her husband and son.

 

Lisa Klassen – Account Manager

Lisa started her career in the insurance industry in 1995, quickly finding her passion working with self-funded groups and association plans. Having spent a portion of her career with third-party administrators, Lisa has extensive knowledge of the inside workings of third-party administrators and the various vendors involved in creating and managing large, self-funded health plans. Lisa serves our Lisa is a licensed Life and Health agent, and has been a member of the National, Oregon, and Portland Health Underwriters, serving for many years on the Pacific Northwest Employee Benefits Committee board.

 

Miko McReynolds – Account Management Assistant

Miko provides internal support for account representatives at Mattecheck & Associates.  Her duties include developing spreadsheets, checking the market for competitive rates and answering our office’s daily service calls.

Miko also brings Spanish bi-lingual skills, assisting in all communication with Spanish speaking clients and their employees.  In this area she has also helped develop forms and translated benefit summaries.
Miko attended Western Oregon State University where she majored in elementary education.  After working in classrooms for over ten years, she determined that a career in the business community would be more interesting and potentially fulfilling.

Miko lives in Portland and continues her love of educating youth by teaching Spanish to underprivileged kids through an after school program. 

 

Pamela Knell – Bookkeeping

Pam has over 20 years experience in business accounting, marketing and administration.  She worked at Standard Insurance Company for 10 years, in commissions and marketing.  Later, she worked simultaneously as the Operations Manager for O’Neill Pine Co. and as Commission Specialist with our agency before joining Mattecheck & Associates full time in 1997.  She is responsible for commissions, licensing, accounts payable and payroll. 

Pam graduated from the University of Portland with a major in Marketing Management.

She currently lives in Beaverton with her husband and 2 children.  She enjoys golf, cooking and being a mom.

 

Sarah Mattecheck, MPH – Website Specialist

Sarah offers 10 years experience in the insurance industry, with Mattecheck & Associates since 1997.  As a new mother, Sarah has changed her focus from managing client accounts in the local office to website administration for our BENERGY products from her home office.

Sarah graduated from the University of Portland in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Science and later received a Master of Public Health from the University of Utah in 1998. 
She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, and 3 children.
